Objectives:
Facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaption, self-management, self-advocacy, and learning.



Responsible to : Director of Health Services and Consultative Role to Building Principal



Qualifications:

1. Valid Indiana License as Registered Nurse
2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
3. Current CPR certification
4. Computer skills desired
5. Physical ability to perform essential functions of job.

Terms of Employment :
Classified hourly Nurse pay scale based on experience related to school health.



Job Goal:
To apprise, promote, and protect the health and well-being of students and school staff, thereby enabling each to fully benefit from the learning and work environment.



Essential Functions:

1. Plan with health services coordinator and building principal to implement the health program for the building.
2. Collaborates with community agencies, health professionals and staff to identify the health needs, current and potential of children and youth to facilitate school and community planning and interventions.
3. Delivery and supervision of care for sick and /or injured students or staff.
4. Implementation of state mandated screenings. Advise parents of significant findings that need attention and assist them to plan for appropriate care.
5. Monitoring of student health status including documented immunizations, health alerts and health care plans.
6. Health education and counseling in areas related to but not limited to: personal health and safety.
7. Implementation of school health promotion and disease prevention programs;
8. First-aid training and coordination of school based volunteer Emergency Response Teams;
9. Development of individual treatment plans to administer medications and treatments to students per physician's orders and parent authorization.
10. Maintains records of activities and services, submit any required reports or documentation.
11. Training and supervision of unlicensed assistive personnel delegated to provide health care or education on health related issues.
12. Attends staff meetings and professional development as requested.
13. Set priorities and plan workload independently.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
Requires mobility, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, moving, and performing CPR. Sensory: site, hearing, smell, and touch. Fast pace environment that requires quick and accurate decisions, excellent communication skills both oral and in writing. Position encompasses entire building(s) and grounds of the school. Center of operation is the nurse clinic but must be mobile to all locations including classroom. Set priorities and plan workload independently.
